In partnership with JSI and with support from Dashen Construction, Kubik built the outpatient department of a new health post in Modjo — recycling 7,699 kg of plastic waste along the way.
Health facilities in growing towns can wait years for conventional construction. In Modjo, Kubik partnered with JSI — with support from Dashen Construction — on a pilot project to upgrade health facilities in Ethiopia, starting with the Outpatient Department block, built entirely with Kubik’s material.
The build recycled 7,699 kg of plastic waste, avoided 1,153 kg of greenhouse-gas emissions, and created dignified work for 706 women waste pickers who supplied the plastic.
It’s proof that healthcare infrastructure can be both impactful and environmentally responsible — and a template for the health posts that come next.
